Digital resources, collections, and useful materials and guides are available from a number of regional, national, and international organizations. Additional information about OER's and MOOC's can be found here, extracted from the Information Resource Centers' (IRC) Membership newsletter, March/April 2013 issue.

Beyond those resources that are a part of MERLOT, its partners, and affiliates, there are additional sources of high-quality online and hybrid courses, tools, and related links. Some of those are listed below.

Resource Description
MIT OpenCourseWare

MIT initiated the OpenCourseWare (OCW) Project in 2000, committed to the advancement of knowledge and education of students, regardless of their location, in science, technology, and other areas of scholarship. By November 2007, MIT completed the initial publication of virtually the entire curriculum, over 1,800 courses in 33 academic disciplines. Their success lead to the development of the OCW Consortium.

OpenCourseWare Consortium The OpenCourseWare Consortium is a collaboration of more than 200 higher education institutions and associated organizations from around the world creating a broad and deep body of open educational content using a shared model. The mission of the OpenCourseWare Consortium is to advance education and empower people worldwide through opencourseware.

OER Commons - Open Education Resources

 

OER Commons is a comprehensive open learning network of courses and course materials. Its mission is to expand educational opportunities by increasing access to high-quality Open Educational Resources (OER), and facilitating the creation, use, and re-use of OER, for instructors, students, and self-learners.
National Repository of Online Courses The National Repository of Online Courses (NROC) is a growing library of high-quality online courses for students and faculty in higher education, high school and Advanced Placement©. This non-profit project, supported by The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, is an Open Educational Resource (OER) and facilitates collaboration among a community of content developers to serve students and teachers worldwide.
Online Course Evaluation Project (OCEP) The Online Course Evaluation Project (OCEP), a part of WCET's EduTools, has been created to provide distance learning administrators, instructors and course designers with a resource to explore the availability, quality, and completeness of online courses for higher education, Advanced Placement®, and high school. The project provides access and functionality, giving users an effective tool to search and compare course evaluations.
Quality Matters Quality Matters (QM) is a faculty-centered, peer review process designed to certify the quality of online courses and online components. Sponsored by MarylandOnline, Inc, Quality Matters offers institutional subscriptions and a range of fee-based services including Quality Matters-managed course reviews and related training.
Carnegie Mellon Open Learning Initiative

The Carnegie Mellon OLI Project is working to promote widely accessible and effective online education. OLI grew out of collaboration among cognitive scientists, experts in human computer interaction, and faculty. The project adds to online education elements of instructional design, formative evaluation, and continuous course improvement.

Open Yale Courses Open Yale Courses provides courses, lectures, and other OER materials from selected Yale College courses. The courses span the full range of liberal arts disciplines, including humanities, social sciences, and physical and biological sciences. Each course includes a full set of class lectures produced in high-quality video accompanied by such other course materials as syllabi, suggested readings, and problem sets. The lectures are available as downloadable videos, and an audio-only version is also offered. In addition, searchable transcripts of each lecture are provided.
Sloan-C While not specifically focused on open, shared courses, the Sloan Consortium (Sloan-C) is dedicated to helping learning organizations improve quality, scale, and breadth of their online programs. Sloan-C encourages the collaborative sharing of knowledge and effective practices to improve online education in learning effectiveness, access, affordability for learners and providers, and student and faculty satisfaction.
Electronic Campus The Southern Regional Education Board's Electronic Campus is an extensive listing of online courses and programs offered by colleges and universities within the 16-state SREB region. Though most of the offerings are not open resources, the site does provide a fairly comprehensive look at available online offerings.
